OIP COVID-19 Operating Procedures

Many Office of International Programs (OIP) staff members are working remotely Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time. During this pandemic, we are in a position to conduct most of our work remotely and believe strongly in doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. OIP staff are still available via phone, email, and other technology should you require assistance.

Throughout the summer, OIP units will be physically open to our constituents on a varied basis. Please check each unit's website through the links below before coming to campus to meet with a team member. Virtual options for interactions are still recommended. External doors on all campus buildings are on swipe in access until further notice to reduce foot traffic in common areas.

Our Units:

Administrative Office

Education Abroad

English Language Training Institute

Intercultural and Educational Experiences

International Student and Scholar Office

Office of Global Education and Engagement

The University will use the Niner Nation Cares website as its information hub as we move toward the start of fall classes. In addition to resources for faculty and staff, you will also be able to review the guidance for students and their families.

For the health and safety of all, our staff will not come to campus if they exhibit symptoms of COVID-19. We recommend that you also refrain from visiting our offices if you exhibit any symptoms. Since COVID-19 can be present in those without symptoms, we will be very careful in our interactions in general. OIP is employing measures to maximize social distancing and promote cleanliness throughout our units.

OIP staff will wear face coverings that cover their nose and mouth whenever they are indoors (even if not within six feet of another person) unless they are alone in a personal space. We respectfully request that all visitors wear a face covering as well. We will have disposable masks available for visitors should you require one. We will also have hand sanitizer available and we will be eliminating contact with shared objects to the best of our ability.

"Stand Here" stickers will be used to support physical distancing in service areas, and we will have plexiglass shields at reception areas. Where possible, there will be doors designated for entry and exit and maximum occupancy limits will be posted outside offices. We appreciate your strict adherence to these restrictions.

The University and OIP have incorporated enhanced sanitation measures for common areas and high touch surfaces, and we are eliminating high touch processes to the extent possible. You may be asked to handle some tasks via smartphone during your visit.

We appreciate your support in adhering to these policies to help flatten the curve at UNC Charlotte, in the Charlotte area, and in all the locations worldwide that Global Niners hold dear.
