The Office of International Programs (OIP) strives to strengthen international education and global learning at the University as well as in the Charlotte community. On campus, it seeks to make international understanding and global awareness a fundamental part of the curriculum and an integral part of campus life.
OIP is comprised of various integrated units focusing on specific dimensions of campus internationalization: global education and engagement, education abroad, international students and scholars, intensive English language training as well as customized inbound study and training experiences.

International Students and Scholars at UNC Charlotte
The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) is committed to providing information, immigration
services and programs that assist international students and visiting scholars in achieving their educational
and personal goals and that foster an appreciation for a culturally diverse learning environment in the larger
University community. UNC Charlotte hosts approximately 2,000 international students and visiting scholars
from nearly 100 countries.
The English Language Training Institute (ELTI) provides intensive English instruction for international students
planning to attend U.S. universities with the goal of improving their general English skills. ELTI also operates
a language support program for international teaching assistants and provides language assessment for
prospective faculty whose first language is not English.
The Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences (OIEE) provides customized, short term programs
for students, faculty, and professional groups. It offers a full range of educational opportunities, and it maintains
cooperative relationships with the corporate, public, non-profit, and educational resources of the greater
Charlotte metropolitan region.
UNC Charlotte Students Studying Abroad
The Office of Education Abroad (OEA) is committed to developing academically rigorous and innovative
programming overseas. OEA administers academic year-long, semester and short term programming that
provides UNC Charlotte students with opportunities to develop intercultural competencies and skill sets
preparing them for competitive careers in an increasingly multicultural workforce.
On Campus Global Education and Engagement
The Office of Global Education and Engagement (OGEE) coordinates on campus academic and co-curricular
opportunities to infuse global and intercultural learning into the University and greater Charlotte community.
