The UNC Charlotte Global Engagement Scholars Program (GESP) is designed to enhance a student’s global and cultural awareness through a mix of academic and co-curricular activities. Undergraduate students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to register for the GESP.
Students interested in learning more about different cultures, exploring international issues, engaging with the Charlotte international community, and having fun are encouraged to join the Global Gateways Program. The Global Gateways Program is a residential-based program designed to bring US domestic and international students together to share and learn about the world.
The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) provides information, services and programs that help international students achieve their individual educational and personal goals and that foster an appreciation for a culturally diverse learning environment in the larger University community.
UNC Charlotte has a number of student organizations for international students or for students with an interest in non-U.S. languages and cultures. Participating in these organizations is a great way to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and to learn more about the world. Look at organizations in both the “International” and “Multicultural” student group categories.

GoinGlobal career and employment resources include more than 10,000 pages of up-to-date content on topics such as: job search sources, work permit/visa regulations, resume writing guidelines and examples, employment trends, salary ranges, networking groups, cultural/interviewing advice, webinars, and much more.
DailyChatter is an international daily newsletter that curates some of the most interesting and important global developments and prepares a conversational, easy-to-read report designed to be read on your smartphone or any other digital device. It is independent and non-partisan and your subscription is entirely free for as long as you are employed at UNC Charlotte. Feel free to invite your students to enroll as well.
International Coffee Hour is an opportunity for American students and international students to speak to one another and to interact. The focus is on giving international students a chance to practice their English speaking skills with native English speakers. It also provides a great opportunity for native English speakers to learn about other cultures and countries by having a conversation with an international student.
The International Friendship and Culture Exchange Program is an opportunity for American and international students to spend an hour together each week in interesting one-on-one conversation, sharing the ideas, customs and concerns of their respective countries. You and your partner will decide when you will meet and what you will talk about. You will be matched with someone who shares similar interests.
Phi Beta Delta has as its purpose the recognition of experience in the areas of international education exchange and/or international scholarship. It also serves as a means for encouraging interdisciplinary interchange and serves as a catalyst for developing a network among faculty, students, and staff involved.
Open to all students but will be of particular interest to students interested in any one of the social science majors such as Anthropology, History, Sociology, and Political Science, any student interested in pursuing a career that has a global dimension, or any student interested in other peoples and cultures.
The Peace Corps works in emerging and essential areas such as business development, IT, and contributions. Peace Corps Volunteers continue to help countless individuals who want to build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities. The Peace Corps provides students an opportunity not only to learn about the world, but to make it better.
Each year, almost 1,200 undergraduate and graduate international students choose the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for their academic studies. Students who wish to apply for undergraduate degree programs should begin by visiting the International Undergraduate Admissions website, or graduate admissions visit the Graduate School Admissions website.
The Fulbright Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and more. The program currently awards approximately 2,000 grants annually in all fields of study and operates in more than 140 countries worldwide.
The UNC Charlotte English Language Training Institute provides intensive English instruction for international students planning to attend U.S. universities as well as for those hoping to improve their general English skills. Since 1979, ELTI has been serving international students by providing quality English language instruction in a safe, friendly academic environment.
